Head Start
Head Start programs provide full-day, year-round care for families, with sessions lasting at least eight hours and operating throughout both the school year and summer. These programs create safe and enriching environments where children ages three to four can learn, play, and develop essential skills to prepare for kindergarten and beyond.
Participants receive nutritious meals and health screenings, while families are supported in accessing necessary health services. Additionally, Head Start assists parents and caregivers in reaching personal goals, such as securing employment, stable housing, or furthering their education. Qualified children can enroll at any point during the year. Eligibility is for low-income families and families receiving public assistance, for children 3-5 years.
Early Head Start
Early Head Start (EHS) programs support infants, toddlers under age three, and pregnant women by offering comprehensive child development and family support services. Designed for low-income families, EHS provides intensive care to promote early learning, health, and well-being for both children and expectant mothers. It serves children ages 12 weeks to 3 years. It is a home-based program in Manhattan, with low-income eligibility requirements and year round enrollment.
